 Winter Park Resort In a
state that is celebrated for its ski resorts, Winter Park Resort
Colorado in the Rockies is a contender for the top spot of the best
ski resort in Colorado. Strategically positioned next to the
Continental Divide, the Winter Park Resort, Colorado receives over
350 inches of snow on average yearly. Winter Park is owned by Denver
city, but is managed by Intrawest. It is currently subject to a 50
year lease by the company. A mere 67 miles from Denver, Winter Park
Resort receives its fair share of traffic from the city and the rest
of the country, and in fact, the world. Estimates claim that the area
receives sunshine a whopping 70% of the time in the skiing season,
making it a great ski destination relatively safe from blizzards. Two
genuine Colorado towns, Winter Park and Fraser are located just off
the slopes, making for charming community ambiance.
Winter
Park Resort Colorado is composed of five interconnected peaks: Winter
Park, Mary Jane, Vasquez Cirque, Parsenn Bowl, and Vasquez Ridge.
Winter Park presents exposed cruising trails, prize winning beginner
ground and family-oriented conveniences. Supposedly named after an
infamous lady, Mary Jane has all the famous ski trails that are long,
vertical and bumpy for the advanced skier. Completely networked by
over 20 lifts, Winter Park Resort Colorado has added a triple-chair
lift, 7 trails, and superior snow fencing at Parsenn Bowl and Belle
Fourche in 2006. With a longest trail run of 4.50 miles and ski-able
area of almost 3000 acres, it is no wonder that Winter Park boasts
nearly 135 trails with 14 acres of learning areas and skiing for
every level. Discovery Park is engineered to help beginners,
intermediate skiers can practice at Kendrick Terrain Park and Rail
Yard is for advanced skiers to show off their skills.
Furthermore,
Winter Park Resort Colorado houses the National Sports Center for the
Disabled, a major skiing program for disabled riders. All in all, the
Winter Park Resort Colorado experience is the comprehensive mountain
adventure, complete with perfect slopes at every skill level, plenty
of great accommodation for the whole family, charming towns, great
restaurants, skiing and snowboarding in winter, mountain biking,
golfing, hiking, and climbing in summer. All an easy one and a half
hour drive from Denver, Colorado.
