Drove my 2008 600 Dragon Switchback less than 1300 miles and the stator and fly wheel had to be replaced. No warning. Sled is stored inside and babied. Not freeking happy at all. I'm just about ready to call it quits with Polaris!!

Rode stock for 06 - 07 winter (1300 miles). Rocked it with some rational mods 07-08 winter (2350 miles and counting!) Heard a lot of comments, on the top of mountains, why i would buy it. I hadn't consistantly rode for the last few years, and my family rode SKS and switchbacks; so I thought it would be a great reaquaintance sled. I ride in central washington, and weigh 250. The handling on the trails was great with everyone telling me how much better around the corners it tracked. The power was very good; i rode side by side with 2004 polaris 700's and 2003 skidoo 700. For a stock sled in powder the sled was very good. It impressed 800 sled riders and moded 700's on the suprising capabilities. Hill climbing was better than expected and got me to most the tops of the big hills. No Maintenance problems; only one scary virtical hill descent experience with no damage (then a small bump into wife's sled and a 6" scratch on the hood).

Then! Had the shop install: SLP pipe&can, SLP intake, V-force reeds, lower gears and heavy chain, 2006 151" 2.4" track. saved some $ on swaped track; total mod cost ~$2700. (had to, riding buddy bought new Ski doo 800 Summit X)

This thing was a dream! Same Wide upfront stance; still tracked better than most everyone else, i noticed a little extra push from the longer track. The extra track, without over burdening the engine was key; although the new 155" is 7lbs lighter?. I'm not going to tell you it out powder climbed the X, but it was closer than you would think. rode with older 800 polaris mods that were very impressed with the fact i was right there most of time. Made me a lot better rider! I will not let my 145 lb friend ride it because he would be unstopable! I noticed very few places that i needed more power. one was a 15' corniced road grade with an 8' aproach, did the Sledneck matrix jump, to the right into a small tree (that kept me from going about 300' strait down)cracked the plastic belly tub, minor damage! This sled is great for of trail exploration, crashing dithches, heavy moderate grade powder, moderate to advanced hill climbs. The drawbacks are slower top speed on trails, or large open areas, less float in extreem powdery hills. I call it the Assault prototype!

Polaris has something there, slightly wider stance, slightly shorter track (increased track speed and responce), and superior suspension; with great power! Thanks P!!!

I will probable keep it and get "second" sled, a new 800, 163 track for the powder riding and see in a few years what to replace the prototype with.

I propose a new calandar; November - May, July, then November again!
